At Black Powder Farm, we’re more than just breeders—we’re a family passionate about raising healthy, happy puppies. What began as a small venture on 40 acres in Kansas has blossomed into a trusted source for quality Rhodesian Ridgebacks in Southwest Missouri. Our love for dogs, paired with a dedication to their well-being, ensures that every puppy is raised with the care and attention they deserve, making them the perfect addition to your family.

About Us

We fell in love with Rhodesian Ridgebacks over 20 years ago. Greg owned his first Ridgeback before Lynn married him. Annie was such a wonderful dog that we started learning more about the breed. When we were ready to get our next Ridgeback we had trouble finding one in our area. Lynn majored in Animal Science, Biology and Chemistry in college (she was a pre-vet major) and raising Ridgebacks seemed like a rewarding and natural next step. We started with Millie and Levi, and when Lynn quit her job to stay home with our first child, Ella, we started thinking about expanding our little Ridgeback family. Now with three children, Ella, Levi (yes, our son has the same name as our first Ridgeback male…he’s that great!), and Cord, Lynn stays home with the kids and dogs and it’s become a rewarding adventure for all of us. Greg has an eye for quality that has resulted in the fine dogs we now call part of the family.

We do not show–three small children and living several hours from the nearest city, makes it not practical for us at this point–but we have gone to several shows and may get into that arena down the road when our children get older. However, our observations at the shows we’ve been to have given us confidence that our dogs will fit right in when the time comes!

Our goal is to breed beautiful, loyal, healthy Ridgebacks that become a part of your family. All our puppies come with a 2 year written genetic warranty. All our pups come with their first shots, worming, dew claws removed, and a thorough vet check. We sell our dogs with limited registry, meaning you agree not to breed them, though on very rare occasions we do make an exception for the right owners and the right puppy.
